My Story

Hey there, I’m Diane. Thanks so much for being here and taking the time to read my story—it really means a lot to me.

Let’s talk art, the journey that shaped me, and the moments that led me back to what I love most. I’ll take you through it step by step, and promise to keep it short.

Art has always been a part of me, especially my love for colours and painting. As a kid, I’d rush straight to extra drawing classes after school, deeply involved in the creative process. Those early days led me to win competitions and even have my work showcased on local TV. But like many teenagers, I got caught up in other things and drifted away from it for a while.

My creative journey didn’t stop there. I shifted my focus to acting, starting with studies in grade school, and years later, it took me to the heart of Paris. I studied theatre and cinema at an international school, living the bohemian French life and being captivated by the artistic culture. But eventually, I began feeling a disconnection from “reality” and decided to explore a deeper level of adulthood. After completing business development courses, I opened my own online jewellery store, convinced that it was my true calling.

However, things didn’t go as planned, and during the pandemic, I moved back to my home country, feeling lost and uncertain. I took a leap of faith and went on a transformative journey in the Indonesian jungle. When I returned months later, I found myself surrounded by a splash of colours and acrylics in my flat, unknowingly reconnecting with my roots. I didn’t fully realise what was happening at the time—well, not until today (we’ll get to that in a bit).

Later, drawn to the beauty of spaces and design, I moved to Dubai and started working in the Interior Design industry. That’s when I had my “EUREKA” moment. I left my 9-to-5 job and devoted all my energy into building my own creative studio, which became a reality just a few months later.

I named my studio “MUSHY” to reflect my artistic essence—soft, vulnerable, emotional, and rich in depth. The name represents the heart of my creations, which aims to evoke the human senses, much like how something mushy can evoke tenderness.

Drawing inspiration from emotions, music, sounds, and vibrant colours, I create abstract contemporary paintings that reflects life’s beauty and complexity in its rawest form.

Mushy Art Studio is a space for experimentation, exploring diverse techniques to create unique, meaningful art. Each piece is inspired by real-life events, global values, existential themes, and personal reflections. It’s a journey of expression—exploring the balance between good and bad, with emotions and thoughts flowing freely across the canvas. The studio is about breaking free from limitations, just as humanity has the power to live and love without boundaries.

My story is still unfolding, with each new creation adding to the story. Thank you for being a part of it.
